Origami Light

origami Lightは日本の折り紙から発想を得た商品です。 1枚の紙を折るだけで、いろいろな形を作れる折り紙のように 1枚の板を折るだけで、商品を作れないかと考えました。 なぜなら、1枚の板を折るだけで形を作れると溶接やメッキなどの 加工をしないので、素材そのものの美しさや経年変化する色の変化が楽しめるのです。 家やお店の中で照らし続け、人と共に時間を過ごし、 時間をかけて変化していく商品は、 共に時間を過ごした家族のような友だちのような、 大切なものになるだろうと想像しました。 2012年から試作を重ねて、共に作ってくれている工場は山形県にある、 ロケットの部や精密機器を製作している技術の高い鐵工所です。 商品の素材は経年変化を楽しめる真鍮と銅の素地です。 この素材は、触ると手の油が反応して黒ずみが生じてしまいますし、 光沢があるので傷が生じてしまうと目立ちます。 繊細で高度な技術がないと、とても折れません。 職人が１つ１つ丁寧に折ってくれた商品なのです。 真鍮・銅のシェード以外の構造部分を作ってくれているのは、 東京・上野にある照明器具の製作所です。特注照明器具を初め、 たくさんの照明器具を製作しているプロ中のプロです。 安全面はもちろんのこと、シェード以外の金物はオリジナルの形状を 木型で作り金物をひいて作り、塗装などの仕上がりにもこだわりがあります。 そうやって日本の折り紙から得た発想、日本職人の高い技術によって、 やっと完成したのがOrigai Lightなのです。 どうぞ永くご愛用いただけますと幸いです。 origami Light is a lighting fixture inspired by Japanese origami.
